What is TES?
Toll’s Extra Service (TES) is a contractual undertaking by Toll to pay damages to you if it is negligent or wilfully causes loss or damage to your goods while providing its services to you. The contractual undertaking is automatic to $800 for a charge of $8.80 (inclusive of GST). If you choose to accept TES, you can either elect to have the contractual undertaking apply automatically each time you send a consignment with Toll.
Why do I need TES?
Toll values your business and offers you TES as a way of accepting duty of care for your goods.
If Toll fails to take care of goods, clients who take TES have the added peace of mind of knowing that Toll will pay damages up to the value you declared on the consignment note (limit $5,000)
If you choose not to accept TES, under Toll’s Service Conditions Toll will not accept any liability for the goods transported.
What are ‘acceptable’ goods?
Acceptable goods are all goods except those which are considered to be at a high risk of damage or which may have been damaged before shipping. To be acceptable, goods must also be suitably packaged and clearly labelled.
Your Toll representative will be happy to advise you whether the goods you wish to ship are acceptable. In all cases, Toll reserves the right, prior to shipment, to refuse TES.
What level of liability?
The level of liability you should specify depends on the value of the goods you wish to transport.
TES is available for a fee of $1.10 (inclusive of GST) per $100 value per consignment note up to a maximum of $5000 cover (subject to service conditions)
What if my goods are worth up to $5,000?
Toll offers TES for acceptable goods valued in excess of $800 up to $5,000 at a rate of $1.10 (inclusive of GST) per $100 value.
What if my goods are worth over $5,000?
If your goods are worth more than $5,000, Toll will be happy to discuss further TES options with you.
What if I already have insurance?
TES is not insurance, but a contractual undertaking by Toll to pay you if it negligently loses or damages your goods.
How do I contract for TES?
To have Toll provide TES for goods valued at a maximum of $800 per consignment, either write the amount in the Toll Extra Service section of the consignment note or leave it blank for an automatic liability limit to $800.
How do I increase the liability level?
If you want Toll to accept a duty of care for a higher amount on goods valued at over $800 per consignment note, write the total value of the goods in the TES section of the consignment note up to the maximum of $5,000.
What if I want to change the liability level?
You can change the amount you request Toll to pay if it is negligent at any time by asking us for a Toll Extra Service Change Request form. When you return the form to us, we will make the change for you.
