Drugs and Alcohol

The Toll Group recognises that inappropriate use of drugs and alcohol by any employee can lead to major deficiencies in an individual’s work performance and is a contributing factor in industrial accidents, driving accidents and road fatalities.

The aim of this policy is to eliminate hazards associated with employees affected by drugs or alcohol whilst in the Company’s employ. It attempts to achieve this without recourse to disciplinary actions or dismissal.

The decision to take drugs or alcohol is the choice of the individual. This Organisation becomes concerned when effects of these interfere with job performance, customer relations and/or safety of employees and other road users.

This policy aims to provide pro-active assistance to employees to overcome problems associated with the inappropriate use of drugs and alcohol.

If an employee refuses to seek treatment to deal with the problem, and an employee’s performance has deteriorated, or if after a reasonable time following treatment there is no clear and consistent improvement in the employee’s performance, the employee will be classed as not meeting acceptable standards and may result in termination of employment.
